ActiveRoles Server

Quests’s ActiveRoles Server is a full-featured user provisioning system. It includes both ActiveRolesServer3 windows  client and web-based interfaces. The web interface allows customizing user provisioning templates, and self-service updates to delegate tasks that would otherwise have to be completed by IT. I was impressed with one feature in particular called “Managed Units”. Managed Units are virtual OUs that can be created within ActiveRoles Server to help manage AD without changing the structure of Active Directory. Another useful feature is temporal group management which automates adding and removing members of groups that need to be members only for a specified time period. This is a great product but at $25 per user in your Active Directory it is also one of the most expensive.

JiJi Active Directory Reports

An evaluation version of this product can be downloaded without filling in contact data. Downloading and installing this tool on my VM was quick and easy. It has a nice UI, and a large number of reports including User, Group, Computer, Exchange, OU, GPO, Printer,Security,NTFS among others. The reports can be configured by adding or removing columns as seen in the screen shot below. You can also create custom reports using your own LDAP search queries. Its just a reporting tool, though, and does not allow editing attributes. You can find locked out users, for instance, but you can’t unlock them. [UPDATE: A new feature includes an actions button in which certain actions, like unlocking, enabling, deleting users is allowed]
